Parts of a standard AC installation: insulated copper pipes, wall bracket, condensate hose, trunking, remote, wall plugs and a flaring tool

In short: in Wrocław, a standard installation of a split air conditioner (up to about 4.5 kW, up to 3 m of piping) starts at about 1,730 zł gross, including 8% VAT, without the unit itself. With a 3.5 kW unit included, expect about 2,800–4,000 zł for budget brands, 3,400–4,800 zł for mid-range brands and 4,200–7,000 zł for premium brands. Extra piping, a lifting platform, removal of an old unit and multi-room systems add to that. National figures are similar: a typical room costs around 3,000–3,500 zł with installation.

What a “standard installation” includes

Installers in Poland price a basic package and add extras on top. In Wrocław the standard package usually covers:

  • one hole through the outer wall for pipes, cable and condensate drain,
  • the indoor unit on a wall bracket and the outdoor unit on a wall bracket or stand, mounted up to about 3 m high,
  • up to 3 m of refrigerant piping, usually in white cable trunking,
  • connection to an existing electrical socket nearby,
  • a gravity condensate drain,
  • vacuuming, a leak test, start-up and a short demonstration, plus clean-up.

Anything beyond that – longer pipes, hidden pipes, work from a lifting platform, a new electrical circuit if the installer says one is needed – is priced separately. Ask for the quote to list each item.

Installation prices in Wrocław (2026)

Indicative gross prices for private customers (8% VAT), October 2026, based on Wrocław installers’ public price lists. The unit is not included.

Installation Price
Single split up to ~4.5 kW, up to 3 m of piping from ~1,730 zł
Single split 5 kW, up to 3 m ~1,950 zł
Single split 7 kW, up to 3 m ~2,160 zł
Multi-split 2+1 (two indoor units, one outdoor) ~2,500–2,800 zł
Multi-split 3+1 ~3,300–3,800 zł

Cheaper offers exist, especially from small firms, and some national labour estimates are lower. Before comparing prices, check that both quotes cover the same scope and that the installer and the company both hold F-gas certificates.

Unit plus installation by price class

Most people buy the unit and installation together. For a 3.5 kW wall unit, enough for a typical living room of about 25–35 m²:

Price class Example brands Unit incl. standard installation
Budget Gree, Haier, Rotenso ~2,800–4,000 zł
Mid-range Samsung, LG ~3,400–4,800 zł
Premium Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric ~4,200–7,000 zł

What you get for more money is usually quieter operation, higher efficiency (lower bills), better heating in frost and more features such as Wi-Fi control. Brand alone doesn’t decide this: compare the noise level, the seasonal efficiency (SEER and SCOP) and the heating range on each model’s datasheet.

For comparison, the national portal Oferteo (May 2026) puts a 2.6 kW split for a 15 m² room at about 3,000 zł with installation, a unit for a 25–30 m² living room at about 3,500 zł, and a multi-split for a 60 m² flat at about 5,500 zł for equipment plus about 2,000 zł for labour.

Extras that change the final price

Extra Typical price in Wrocław
Each extra metre of piping beyond 3 m ~130–165 zł
Work from a lifting platform (high floor, no balcony) ~650 zł
Removal of an old unit ~490 zł

The biggest variables are the pipe route (the further the outdoor unit is from the indoor unit, the more metres you pay for) and access. On a balcony, the outdoor unit is easy to reach; on a high façade without a balcony, the installer needs a lifting platform. Hiding pipes in a wall channel, common in tenements where trunking would spoil the look, costs more per metre than surface trunking.

VAT: 8% or 23%?

Wrocław installers usually quote two gross prices: 8% VAT for private customers and 23% for companies. For example, an installation priced at 1,600 zł net costs 1,728 zł at 8% and 1,968 zł at 23%.

The reduced 8% rate comes from the VAT Act rules on construction, renovation and modernisation of housing (art. 41 ust. 12). It applies to flats up to 150 m² and houses up to 300 m² of usable floor area; above that, it applies only proportionally (art. 41 ust. 12b). Tax interpretations from 2011 treated air conditioning installation as modernisation, which supports 8%. However, we found no recent binding ruling specifically on air conditioners, and in a similar case (awnings) tax authorities and courts have disagreed. If you’re buying through your company, expect 23%. This is general information, not tax advice – ask the installer how they invoice.

Service and running costs

Budget for regular care from the first year:

Service Typical price in Wrocław
Annual inspection, one split unit ~230–300 zł
Chemical cleaning and disinfection, one unit ~320–450 zł
Inspection of a multi-split 2+1 ~380 zł

Many installers make the installation warranty conditional on a yearly inspection, so read the warranty card. Electricity is the other running cost: in 2026 a kilowatt-hour costs about 1.10 zł gross including distribution on a standard G11 tariff (check your own bill). How much you pay depends on how often you run the unit and how efficient it is – the seasonal efficiency figures on the energy label are the best guide.

Grants and tax relief

There is no grant for cooling-only air conditioning in a flat. The Czyste Powietrze programme can support an air-to-air heat pump only in a single-family house, and only if the model is on the programme’s approved list (ZUM) and it is the house’s main heat source. The thermal-modernisation tax relief does not cover air conditioners.

Summary

  • Standard installation in Wrocław: from about 1,730 zł gross (8% VAT), unit not included.
  • 3.5 kW unit with installation: about 2,800–4,000 zł (budget) to 4,200–7,000 zł (premium).
  • Extras: about 130–165 zł per extra metre of piping, ~650 zł for a lifting platform, ~490 zł to remove an old unit.
  • Private customers usually pay 8% VAT, companies 23%.
  • Plan for an annual inspection at about 230–300 zł.

How much does it cost to install air conditioning in Poland?

In Wrocław a standard installation of a split unit up to about 4.5 kW with up to 3 m of piping starts at about 1,730 zł including 8% VAT, without the unit. With a 3.5 kW unit included, expect about 2,800–4,000 zł for budget brands and up to about 7,000 zł for premium brands. National portals quote similar figures, around 3,000–3,500 zł for a typical room.

Is VAT on air conditioning installation 8% or 23%?

Installers usually charge 8% VAT to private customers installing AC in a flat up to 150 m² or a house up to 300 m², and 23% to companies. The 8% rate rests on the rules for housing renovation and modernisation, and tax interpretations have treated AC installation as modernisation, but there is no single binding ruling. This is not tax advice, so ask the installer how they invoice.

How much does an extra metre of AC piping cost?

In Wrocław each metre beyond the standard 3 m costs about 130–165 zł gross. The price is higher when the pipes are hidden in a wall channel and for larger units. A long pipe route can add several hundred złoty to the bill.

How much does AC servicing cost per year?

An annual inspection of one split unit costs about 230–300 zł in Wrocław, and a chemical cleaning with disinfection about 320–450 zł. Many installers require a yearly inspection to keep the installation warranty valid.

Is there a government grant for air conditioning in Poland?

Not for cooling-only air conditioning in a flat. The Czyste Powietrze programme can support an air-to-air heat pump only in a single-family house, if the model is on the programme's approved list and it is the main heat source. The thermal-modernisation tax relief does not cover air conditioners.
